Quick fix: Enable Lightway protocol in ExpressVPN settings — this is ExpressVPN's obfuscation mode and resolves most UAE blocking issues. Etisalat (e&) and du — the UAE's two ISPs — use deep packet inspection (DPI) to detect and block VPN connections. When they update their blocking systems, ExpressVPN server IPs get added to blocklists, causing sudden connection failures that previously worked fine.
This isn't unique to ExpressVPN — all VPNs are affected by UAE blocking. The difference is how well each VPN responds with obfuscation technology and server updates. ExpressVPN's Lightway protocol is their answer to this, but it doesn't always stay ahead of Etisalat and du's updates.
